Day 1

New York City

Fly into New York and make your way independently to the city that never sleeps! Check into your accommodation and make your way to the dazzling lights of Times Square. Catch a Broadway show or simply find a rooftop bar and enjoy a cocktail whilst taking in stunning views of the city.

Day 2

New York City

Wake up nice and early and head out for breakfast, we recommend Bubby’s in Lower Manhattan for delicious fluffy pancakes. Whilst you’re in the area, explore Soho, giving you a calmer place to walk the streets and shop like a local. Walk down to the Financial District and see the 9/11 Memorial and Museum afterwards, and then hop on a city cruise to see the Statue of Liberty. Head to Brookfield Place where you can grab a bite to eat at the food hall or make you way up to Chelsea Market for independent shops selling artisan goods as well as an abundance of restaurants. Walk the Highline towards Hudson Yards and how about taking the lift to The Edge? See the sunset whilst walking over the clear glass floor!

Day 3                           

New York City – Beacon – Hudson Valley (50 miles)

This morning, how about grabbing a coffee and taking a stroll through Central Park and do some last minute shopping before collecting your car hire? Drive north towards Hudson Valley, a beautiful region of New York State where you can stay in places such as West Point, Poughkeepsie or Fishkill.

Through your drive to the region, stop off and explore the town of Beacon, its quaint streets lined with boutique shops, art galleries, and cozy cafes. How about visiting the DIA Beacon, a collection of art from 1960s to present? Discover the Storm King Art Center with its expansive outdoor sculpture park. Enjoy your evening dining out at a Hudson Valley vineyard with local wines and gorgeous location.

Day 4

Hudson Valley – Albany – Saratoga Springs (135 miles)

This morning, visit the Walkway Over the Hudson, a converted railroad bridge that spans the Hudson River. Wander through downtown Poughkeepsie, discovering its historic charm, boutique shops, and local eateries. After take a scenic drive along the Roosevelt Farm Lane in Hyde Park, where you can see the FDR estate and learn about the life of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and wander the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site.

Continue onto the town of Rhinebeck, shop around and find independent boutiques, check out the Hudson River Maritime Museum or visit Wilderstein Mansion, an 1888 mansion set amongst 40 acres of manicured grounds.

A stop off at Albany and explore the New York State Museum or stroll through the Empire State Plaza with its distinct buildings before travelling towards Saratoga Springs. This evening settle in and find a local farm-to-table restaurant evening.

Day 5

Saratoga Springs – Syracuse (140 miles)

Saratoga Springs, serves as a central hub for thoroughbred horse racing, boasting the renowned Saratoga Race Course. Walk through the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, showcasing horse paintings and trophies. Within the Saratoga Spa State Park, take a moment to enjoy the mineral baths. Nearby, visit the Saratoga Automobile Museum offering a glimpse into the past with its collection of vintage models and race cars. Spend the next two nights in Syracuse.

Syracuse

The next day, enjoy a great mix of art, culture and nature in Syracuse from the Onondaga Lake Park with its gorgeous views, hiking the Green Lakes State Park or visiting the Erie Canal Museum with its interactive displays. The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology (MOST) – a family-friendly hands-on science museum or the Everson Museum of Art. Walk through the historic district to see Armory Square with its vibrant mix of shops, local dining scene and nightlife. If you’re in the area how about heading to Salt City Market for an array of diverse eateries at its food hall?

Day 7

Syracuse – Buffalo/ Niagara (150 miles)

This morning head to Buffalo and visit the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park or experience the Albright-Knox Art Gallery (AKG) for an impressive art collection. History enthusiasts have the opportunity to tread the same ground where President Theodore Roosevelt was sworn into office at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site. During the summer time have fun at Canalside, Buffalo’s waterfront with many choices of activities such as kayaking, pedal boats, stand up paddleboards and the half-bike, half-boat Buffalo Cycleboats!

Buffalo/ Niagara

Find a spot to eat for breakfast, how about trying the Campfire Grille’s cinnamon pancakes or fully loaded hot breakfasts? Explore the different neighbourhoods such as Allentown, a bohemian haven, Elmwood Village with its quaint cafes and independent shops or peruse Downtown and have a go at the Buffalo Wing trail! Not to mention driving to Niagara and spectating the iconic Niagara Falls! Why not take the Maid of the Mist boat tour or hike the Niagara Gorge and explore the ruins of Schoellkopf Power Plant?

Buffalo/ Niagara – Corning/ Ithaca (155 miles)

Visit Corning for the world’s largest collection of glass artifacts or how about attending a fascinating glassblowing demonstration? Wander the historic downtown area of Ithaca with its unique shops and galleries. When visiting Ithaca, you must visit the stunning Taughannock Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in the region. The prestigious Cornell University is here, so why not explore its beautiful campus. Try out Ithaca Beer Company, a local brewery with regional craft beers.

Corning/ Ithaca – Catskills (170 miles)

Heading back down to stay at the scenic Catskills area, this gorgeous region with its many waterfalls has plenty to see and do. Explore the picturesque Kaaterskill Falls in the afternoon, a stunning waterfall nestled in the mountainous heart. Unwind in the evening by a campfire, sharing stories and marvelling at the stars. Consider a hike through North-South Lake Campground, immersing yourself in the tranquillity of the lake and its adjacent trails.

Catskills – New York (140 miles)

This morning see some highlights of the Catskills before heading back to New York City.
