Overview

From August 2021 the famous Rocky Mountaineer will be travelling a new and stunning rail route through the American Rockies between Moab in Utah and Denver in Colorado. Taking this slow-paced rail journey through some of the world’s most spectacular scenery must be close to the top of any travel wish-list. Travel from West to East or East to West - the choice is yours.

Before boarding the iconic train on it’s spectacular journey, you will enjoy a few days touring the stunning National Parks of Utah - exploring the superb natural sandstone arches of Arches National Park, the mysterious rock formations called Hoodoos of Bryce Canyon National Park and the soaring mounts and lush valley’s of Zion National Park.

On Day 5 you will board the Rocky Mountaineer train and on leaving Moab you will see views of the Book Cliff Mountains and La Sal Mountains that are only accessible by rail or river, before arriving into the charming resort of Glenwood Springs. In the morning marvel at the sight of Mount Garfield and then raise a toast as you cross the border from Colorado into Utah. Approaching Denver you will travel through stunning canyons such as Red Canyon, Byers and Glenwood Canyon. You’ll spot wildlife such as mountain lions, bears and big-horn sheep.  

You can also do this itinerary in reverse, stating in Denver and ending in Las Vegas – please ask for prices and details.

Day 1

Fly to Las Vegas

Arrive in Las Vegas, known as the Entertainment Capital of the World! Transfer to your hotel for the night. If you would like more time to enjoy Las Vegas then just let us know and we can add more nights in your chosen hotel.

Day 2

Las Vegas – Zion National Park – Bryce Canyon

Head to Zion National Park by coach for a tour of this beautiful region, known for its touring mountains and red canyons carved out by the Virgin River. Continue to Bryce Canyon for your overnight stay.

Day 3

Bryce Canyon National Park - Moab

Explore Bryce Canyon National Park with a guided tour. View the largest collection of hoodoos in the world from the multiple viewpoints in Bryce Canyon, including Rainbow Point, Inspiration Point and Natural Bridge, plus an easy rim walk between Sunset Point and Sunrise Point. Continue onto the lively town of Moab where you will spend the night.

Day 4

Arches National Park

Enjoy a guided tour of the Arches National Park, one of Utahs Mighty 5 national parks, where you can marvel at the famous red sandstone arches such as Delicate Arch and Double Arch. Return to Moab for the night.

Day 5

Moab – Canyonlands National Park – Rocky Mountaineer rail journey to Glenwood Springs

In the morning take a guided tour of the spectacular Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park. Depart Moab in the afternoon and travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer train, enjoying a delicious three course meal with wine and beer. Cross the Utah-Colorado border with stunning mountain views in the background before arriving in the charming resort town of Glenwood Springs where you will overnight.

Day 6

Glenwood Springs - Denver

Depart Glenwood Springs on board the Rocky Mountaineer. Admire the rugged canyons and the Colorado River before crossing the Continental Divide. Arrive into the Mile High City of Denver for an overnight stay in this great place known as the Napa Valley of Craft Beer!

Day 7

Denver departure

It’s time to fly home or you can choose to stay in Denver for another night or two – speak to our team of experts to tailormake your holiday.
