Day 1

Arrival in San Diego

Fly into San Diego Airport and transfer independently to your chosen hotel. We haven’t included car hire in this holiday as both San Diego and LA are easy to explore without one – but of course, we can book a car if you prefer. Known as “America’s Finest City,” San Diego is a relaxed, coastal destination with gorgeous beaches and a wealth of things to do. You’ll have three nights here – though with so much on offer, you might want to add an extra night or two!

Day 2

San Diego

Today you might choose to relax on the beach or head out and explore. Rent a bike or take a Segway tour to see the sights, or enjoy a leisurely brunch cruise around the bay. If you're into history and aviation, the fascinating USS Midway Museum is a must-visit.

Day 3

San Diego

There’s more time to soak up the sun or enjoy San Diego’s many attractions. How about a whale watching cruise? You might also spot dolphins and sea lions along the way.

Day 4

San Diego to Los Angeles via Amtrak Train

This morning, board the Pacific Surfliner Amtrak and enjoy a scenic coastal journey to Los Angeles. If you’d rather drive, consider taking the coastal route or detour inland to explore the charming western-style town of Temecula with its wooden boardwalks and rustic shops. On arrival in LA, transfer to your chosen hotel – perhaps in West Hollywood for easy access to iconic attractions, or in upscale Santa Monica with its sandy beach, famous pier, and the end-of-Route-66 sign.

Day 5

Los Angeles

Start your LA adventure with one of the city’s famous tours – we can book you a Warner Bros Studio tour, a Movie Locations tour, or the ever-popular Movie Stars’ Homes tour. There are also fantastic foodie tours if you’re keen to taste your way around this diverse city.

Day 6

Los Angeles

Time to stretch your legs – consider hiking or even horse-riding in the Hollywood Hills. Or how about a day trip to the stunning Catalina Island? Take the ferry and explore this hidden gem.

Day 7

Los Angeles

Spend your final full day exploring Santa Monica. Rent a bike and cruise along the coastal paths, stopping for tasty bites along the way. Or simply relax on the golden sands and soak up the California sunshine.

Day 8

Fly home

Enjoy a final stroll or a leisurely breakfast before making your way to the airport for your flight home.
