Eating, Drinking and Nightlife in Orlando

The world is your oyster in Orlando when it comes to the food and drink available. At least try the orange juice which made the county’s fruit famous but really, you can get anything here at any time. You can combine food with a visit from Disney’s finest characters in the Magic Kingdom or slink away to your villa and order a pizza in for the evening. The city is switched on at all times and the range and scope of entertainment is as big as your imagination.

There is something for the whole family and you should check with your concierge in the hotel on arrival or your American Sky travel consultant before you travel in case there are opportunities you want to book ahead for.

Eating & Drinking

It’s difficult to even give a highlight of the places to eat in Orlando, as the options are just so immense. In and around all of the hotels you will find a huge selection of restaurants from cheap to expensive, from fast food to sophisticated gourmet, and from all four corners of the world. The concierge at your hotel will be able to give you some advice for the type of restaurant you are looking for.

In the theme parks there are plenty of “food stations” where you can eat-in or take-away, but the dollars will soon disappear if you have a large family to feed, so it might be worth having a big American breakfast to fuel up before you hit the parks. The important thing in the parks is to keep hydrated, so drink lots of water and steer clear of too many fizzy drinks.

Nightlife

As with the restaurants, the sheer scale of the places to enjoy a drink is too huge to tackle here. Most of the hotels have at least one bar, so if you can’t move another step after a busy day in the parks, then you can just relax with a drink in the knowledge that your bedroom is not too far away.

However for the night owls you won’t be disappointed. Around the International Drive area there are simply masses of bars and nightclubs for you to try out. And within the two main attractions, you have Universal CityWalk and Disney’s Pleasure Island, where there are nightly shows, late bars and music venues.

Universal CityWalk – styled as “The Entertainment Capital of Orlando”, where you can relax over dinner, catch the latest movie, mingle over cocktails, dance the night away. Highlights include Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, Pat O’Briens – which is home of the “Hurricane” drink, the Red Coconut Club - a hip and happening nightclub, whilst “CityWalks Rising Star” is not your typical karaoke bar with its live band and backing singers to help your performance.

Disney’s Pleasure Island has some great restaurants, as well as bars and entertainments, such as the House of Blues - a club where you can enjoy live music whilst eating Southern cuisine. Cirque du Soleil have a programme of shows showcasing their world famous choreography and circus spectacle. The Raglan Road Irish Pub is where you can enjoy a beer whilst listening to the house band play traditional music. And there are nightly fireworks at midnight to help your holiday go with a bang.
