Flights and Transfers
Direct flights to Los Angeles from Heathrow or Gatwick take around 11hrs 30 mins. Most people opt to hire a car for their stay, or you can choose to take a taxi to your chosen destination. A taxi to Hollywood from the airport takes around 45 minutes and costs around $50.
In order to travel to Los Angeles, your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from your return date to the UK. You will also need to check the full entry requirements before you travel which you can do by visiting the FCO website or by contacting the relevant embassy. UK passengers can travel to the USA under the Visa Waiver Scheme which you can do by completing an online form using the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ETSA) system. English is the primary language spoken, but there are various other languages widely spoken here, as with the rest of California.
Bus: Buses are surprisingly common here and a cheap mode of transport to many locations. The LA Metro Trip Planner is your best source of information in terms of routes and destinations covered.
Cycling: Bike trails are plentiful here, so why not hire a bike and explore the city on two wheels? There are a number of bike stores throughout the city where you can rent a bike for the day for less than $15.
Car: Car hire is a great option if you’re planning on travelling a lot during your stay. Los Angeles is an expansive destination and using taxis to get around can be pricey if you’re doing it on a regular basis – speak to a member of the American Sky team to find out more.

Vaccinations and Health
