Overview

The most upscale of the guest ranches in Tucson, and one of the oldest in the nation, is this quintessential southwestern dude ranch. An all-inclusive resort, the Tanque Verde Ranch is surrounded by desert and soaring mountains, bordering Saguaro National Park East and was named among the “Top 10 Resorts in the U.S.” by Conde Nast Traveler in 2016. Set on 60,000 acres of one of the area’s most awe-inspiring landscapes in the Rincon Mountains, guests have easy access to mountain biking and hiking, and can join horseback excursions, including lessons, that are available for all skill levels and included in accommodation rates. The property also hosts communal ranch meals, swimming and daylong kids’ activity programs so that the parents can enjoy some time alone while the younger ones play. A great place to unplug and relax, there are no TVs, however, guests aren’t totally cut off from the rest of the world as the ranch does include free Wi-Fi access.

Located in the Rincon Mountains of Tucson, the ranch sits adjacent to Saguaro National Park East and is about a 30-minute drive east of downtown Tucson.

There is a total of 69 rooms, all of which include:

Rooms

Road Runner Ridge Salas – The Road Runner Ridge rooms face Saguaro National Park. The Salas feature two queen-size beds, a patio and a view of the mountains.

Road Runner Ridge Casitas – The Casitas offer more space than the Salas rooms and include two queen-size beds, a patio and a comfortable sitting area. Some also include a fireplace.

Quail Hollow Salas – The Quail Hollow units surround a grassy courtyard. The Salas include either two queen-size beds, one king- or one queen-size bed, either located along the Ranch’s main walkway, overlooking the mountainous desert landscape or the courtyard.

Quail Hollow Casitas – The slightly larger Quail Hollow Casitas include either two queen-size beds, one king- or one queen-size bed, a patio and a comfortable sitting area. Some also include a fireplace.

Javalina Heights Salas – These Salas are located in pink adobe structures, facing west for beautiful sunset views, and set up slightly higher for views of the national park. They include either two queen-size beds, one king- or one queen-size bed, either located along the Ranch’s main walkway, overlooking the mountainous desert landscape or the courtyard.

Javalina Heights Casitas – The Javalina Heights Casitas are also located in pink adobe structures, facing west for beautiful sunset views, and set up slightly higher for views of the national park. They include a fireplace, either two queen-size beds, one king- or one queen-size bed, and are located along the Ranch’s main walkway, overlooking the mountainous desert landscape or the courtyard.

Desert Garden Salas – The Desert Garden rooms are located on the north side of the property, tucked among a garden of desert cacti and mesquite trees near the dining room. The Salas rooms feature either two queen-size beds, one king- or one queen-size bed, and are located along the Ranch’s main walkway, overlooking the mountainous desert landscape or the courtyard.

Desert Garden Casitas – The Desert Garden Casitas offer more space than the Salas rooms and feature either two queen-size beds, one king- or one queen-size bed as well as a fireplace, sitting area and patio.

Tanque Verde Ranch offers three gourmet meals a day, specializing in southwestern cuisine, in its dining room. There are also a number of indoor and outdoor specialty dining events hosted every week, like the Cottonwood Grove Ranch BBQ that features live entertainment, and the Old Homestead Breakfast Ride.
