Emma and Ben share their USA holiday story with us

Emma and Ben travelled on our Self-Drive The West in America. Here's what they had to say:

This was our first trip to America together and will definitely not be our last. We chose to book with American Sky as they were very competitive on price as we wanted to explore all the major landmarks in Western America but also add on Hawaii to finish our trip. We were not disappointed! On arrival to Los Angeles we collected our itinerary from the hotel reception which was so varied and covered all the places we both wanted to see.

When both asked what our highlight was we honestly change our mind every day. We relaxed in Palm Springs, went shopping in Scotsdale and made the amazing drive to the Grand Canyon along winding mountain roads. The Grand Canyon really will take your breath away. After that we drove to Hoover Dam and on to Las Vegas.

We would really recommended brunch at The Wynn and to watch a show at The MGM. After taking in everything Vegas had to offer we headed to Death Valley which really is the hottest place on earth. The drive there was surreal, the landscape so barren and we were so pleased we had air conditioning. We then spent a day at Yosemite National Park with its breathtaking mountains, but unfortunately we didn't spot any bears. We spent 2 nights in San Francisco which is such a diverse city. We drove across the Golden Gate Bridge, took a tram and visited Alcatraz where a former inmate was signing books! The most iconic drive was of course the California Coast and Big Sur where elephant seals lined the beach. After shopping in the luxurious Santa Barbara we relaxed by the pool in Oxnard. The following day was on to Hollywood where we drove to the Hollywood Hills and got as close as we could to the Hollywood sign. We visited the iconic walk of fame and took photos of our favourite stars.

We ended back in Los Angeles where the next day we flew to Hawaii from Los Angeles International just after Hurricane Lester had passed. We landed in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. It was a tropical paradise. Waikiki beach was packed with people from across the world and the sea was lovely and warm with some amazing waves. The light mists of rain that would come across in the afternoon was a nice relief from the humidity and made it the perfect time to walk along the canal.

This trip had something for everyone. We never got tired of driving and we saw so much in the time we had which was just under 3 weeks. We would recommend driving a mustang or similar as it really made the drive extra amazing.

I would book with American Sky again as they provided everything we needed and would love to book again and feel you could do the exact same holiday again and still see and do new things!

We would like to thank Emma & Ben for sharing their story with us and hope to welcome you on another holiday soon..
