Additional Information

1. You need to be able to state when and where you were born, and, if divorced, when and where the wedding took place and the date of divorce. If you are adopted you will need to state when and where you were adopted. You should not have to produce papers to support your statements, although if you have them to hand it is worth taking them with you.
2. If you have been divorced then you must state on the marriage licence application form the date, place and country where the previous marriage was ended. If you are widowed then the date of the death of your previous spouse must be stated on the application form. If you have been divorced or widowed within the previous 30 days then the divorce or death certificate must be shown.

Please note that the only marriage certificate you will have will be the one issued in the United Sates. You cannot obtain a marriage certificate issued in the UK.However this marriage certificate will be equal in every respect to one issued in the UK. It may be worthwhile to obtain a certified copy or copies of the registered certificate for future use.
