Transportation
If you’re arriving in New York from Newark Airport, there are several options for getting to Times Square. Firstly taxi or a car hire service can be booked from the airport. Prices will vary.
The preferred travel method is the Newark or JFK AirTrain. It costs $15 USD and is a comfortable, efficient, and quick service into Times Square that allows you to skip the traffic, thus reducing time and stress.
If you’re taking the subway you’ll need to disembark at Times Square - 42ndStreet.
Ideal Times to Travel: Any time of year is a good time to visit New York, though winter flight prices are generally cheaper (after New Year of course) due to cold wintery conditions. There are great sales in January. But Times Square in the summer is bustling and full of street performers and peddlers of art and jewellery. It is also home to numerous festivals.
Top Attractions

For music lovers, the Brill Building (a.k.a.Tin Pan Alley) at 1619 Broadway is worth a visit: the building changed the course of the music industry by allowing artists to record, and then to press their own albums. There are also numerous music stores.
Bowlmor Lanes is a 90,000 square foot bowling alley in the old New York Times building featuring 50 lanes divided into 7 themed lounges.
Dining in Times Square is a real treat with many award winning restaurants specialising in cuisine from around the world. For a real treat try Restaurant Row for some of the best food in New York, where Broadway fans and Broadway stars all come to dine.
Shopping
There are numerous opportunities for fashionistas and shopaholics to take part in some spectacular shopping in Times Square. November brings Thanksgiving and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. One of the biggest parades in America, this is definitely worth a viewing, especially if you have small children, but come early as the best viewing points fill up fast!
New Years Eve is the one time of year when eyes are definitely on NYC. Millions across the US, Canada and around the world watch and wait for the famous ball to drop and the fireworks to explode.
