Overview
Enjoy the real America on this coast to coast independent rail tour. After an exciting few days in New York you’ll board an overnight train to Chicago travelling along the banks of the Eerie Canal, Mohawk River and Lake Michigan. After exploring the Windy City, board the California Zephyr to Denver and the Rocky Mountains. The final leg is to San Francisco and then finish with a day touring the Napa Valley where you’ll sample the fabulous wines of this region. (RB)

Lakeshore Limited Train - New York - Chicago
This morning make your way to Penn Station and board Amtrak to Chicago, the Lakeshore Limited train. Sit back and enjoy the sights of America rolling past as you travel west to the Windy City.
Overnight: Onboard Amtrak in Coach Class – Upgrade to a sleeper cabin including meals for a supplement
Day 4
Chicago
Arrive into the Windy City and swap the train for a hop-on hop-off bus for an introduction to Chicago. Stretch your legs with a stroll through Millennium Park and browse the shops of the Magnificent Mile.

Day 5
Chicago
Today continue your exploration of the sights Chicago using your CityPASS, which included admission into a great range of attractions such as the Field Museum, the SkyDeck, the Shedd Aquarium and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Day 6
California Zephyr Train - Chicago - Denver
Travel to Union Station and board Amtrak to Denver, the California Zephyr. Relax on board as you continue your journey west, through Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and into Colorado. You’ll be spending the night on the train, so will wake to enjoy the majestic landscapes as you head into the Rockies.

Day 7
Denver
Arrive into Denver and transfer independently to your hotel, then enjoy the afternoon and evening exploring this delightful city filled with quirky shops, bars and restaurants.

Day 8
Denver
Today you will take a full –day sightseeing tour of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Rockies and drive over the Berthoud Pass, before visiting the charming ski town of Winter Park and then lunch in Grand Lake.

Day 9
California Zephyr Train - Denver – San Francisco
Board the train at Denver’s historic Union Station for the relaxing journey to San Francisco, back on the California Zephyr. Get another perspective on the Rocky Mountains from your train seat and enjoy your final overnight rail journey heading to the west coast of California.

Day 10
San Francisco
You’ll pull into Emeryville Station, and then you can explore this charismatic city including the most photographed bridge in the world – the Golden Gate. Tonight you’ll dine at one of San Francisco’s waterfront restaurants

Day 11
Napa Valley
Enjoy a full day touring the famous wine growing regions of Sonoma and Napa. Soak up the lovely scenery as you sip on the local wine. Then you’ll return to San Francisco for your final night.
