The oldest and most Northern of the main Hawaiian Islands, Kauai is a tropical paradise in the Pacific Ocean. On Kauai’s North shore you’ll discover some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet. There’s the Na Pali Coast, whose cliffs rise 4,000 feet above the ocean, Lumahai Beach, where Mitzi Gaynor ’washed that man right out of her hair’ in the movie South Pacific. The North shore also is home to the quaint town of Hanalei, one of the earliest areas to be settled by the ancient Pacific voyagers.

There are a number of locations on Kauai, which offer the perfect romantic wedding setting. For those wanting a beach wedding, the North and South shore beaches are ideal. Here are some of the suggested venues for your wedding ....

Hanalei Bay

Famous for its spectacular beauty, Hanalei Bay is a long half-moon of sandy beach carved into the base of a sheer cliff on one side and narrowing into a rocky point on the other. The beach is a great spot for walking or throwing a Frisbee around. At the westernmost curve of the bay, you’ll find a calm shoreline where the water is relatively quiet

Lydgate

Lydgate Beach Park is one of the most popular beach parks on Kauai’s east coast. The beach park’s main attraction is the large, double-sectioned pool on the northern end of the beach that is protected from ocean swells by an artificial rock barrier, which was built in 1964 using huge boulders. Lydgate Beach Park is a beach for the whole family.

Tunnels Beach

Tunnels Beach located on Haena Point on Kauai’s north shore is a postcard-perfect, two-mile (3.2 km) stretch of golden sand fringed with ironwood trees and tropical palms. Gorgeous aquamarine water, waves crashing on the reef offshore, calm waters by the beach, old twisted trees, the exquisite backdrop of Bali Hai (made famous in the film “South Pacific”).

Anahola Beach Park

South of Anahola Bay, the local favorite Anahola Beach Park has something suitable for everyone. Located on the eastern shoreline of KauaiThis lovely beach has good swimming most of the year due to a protective reef offshore. The sandy beach is backed by shade and perfect for children.
