LAS VEGAS – MONTEZUMA CASTLE – SEDONA
Leaving behind the bright lights of Las Vegas, travel along parts of the historic Route 66 into the desert landscapes of central Arizona. View the ancient cliff dwellings at Montezuma Castle National Monument before winding through some of the West’s most famous scenery in Red Rock Country. Arrive at the quaint town of Sedona, an eclectic mix of Western, Native and New Age cultures. (FB, D)
Hotel: Poco Diablo Resort
SEDONA – GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy free time in Sedona to shop, visit the town’s many art galleries or join an optional jeep tour through the countryside. Then climb through the dramatic Oak Creek Canyon, with incredible views looking back over Sedona and Red Rock Country. Continue into the pine-covered Kaibab Plateau for your first view of the amazing Grand Canyon at Mather Point. Enjoy the changing views of this natural wonder as you travel along the South Rim. You’ll become rock experts, learning from a local specialist who relays the story of the formation of the immense 1.7 billion year-old
canyon carved by the Colorado River. Examine samples from the multi-coloured sedimentary layers formed one on top of the other as the seas encroached again and again. As the sun sets, join your Tour Director on a stroll along the rim and watch the colours change on the canyon’s walls. Tonight, enjoy your stay inside the heart of the park. (FB) Hotel: National Park Lodges (NP)
GRAND CANYON – NAVAJO COUNTRY – LAKE POWELL
There is time this morning to admire the canyon’s amazing colours in the sunrise light. Or for an entirely different perspective, why not take an optional flightseeing tour for a spectacular bird’s eye view of the Grand Canyon? Journey east into the vast Navajo Indian Reservation and stop at a historic Indian trading post with a chance to purchase native handicrafts. Then it’s on through the Painted Desert to Glen Canyon Dam, spanning the Colorado River and backing up its waters to form the magnificent Lake Powell. With over 1,900 miles of towering sandstone shoreline,
the lake’s deep blue waters fill thousands of tiny fingers and hidden coves. There is time for an optional cruise on the lake before tonight’s dinner at the lakefront hotel. Afterwards, take an in-depth look at the striking geology and survival strategies of the desert wildlife of the Canyonlands and the Colorado Plateau with a fascinating lecture and slide show presented by an expert naturalist. (FB, D)
Hotel: Lake Powell Resort
Lake Powell Free Time
The day is yours. Rise early for an adventurous hike or kick back in the sun on the shores of this 186-mile-long lake, formed by the Glen Canyon Dam. Gather some of your travelling companions for an optional raft down one of the prettiest sections of the Colorado River or a scenic cruise on the lake, visiting magnificent Antelope Canyon. If you want to hit the water, go kayaking or fish for striped bass and bluegill in one of the lake’s glittering bays. (FB)
LAKE POWELL – BRYCE CANYON & ZION NATIONAL PARKS (2 nights)

Continuing on, drive through some of the West’s most breathtaking scenery. View the Checkerboard Mesa, one of Zion’s most famous landmarks, and arrive at the impressive Zion
