Spend two nights in Memphis, "birthplace of the blues," experience award-winning barbecue and tour Elvis Presley’s Graceland. Arrive in New Orleans, the jazz capital of the world

Day 2

New Orleans

Begin your southern adventure in style with a walking tour of New Orleans’ French Quarter. You will explore the bustling French Marketplace with Pirates Alley, the Cabildo, the Presbytere and the Pontalba. You will also see the majestic St Louis Cathedral, one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. Stop to taste a true New Orleans favourite – beignets at Café du Monde. This evening you will discover how to cook New Orleans-style during a unique demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking.

Day 3

New Orleans

Begin with a drive along New Orleans’ historic Esplanade Avenue. Then journey through Louisiana’s swamp on a cruise with a fun commentary by your captain. Learn about the history and ecology of this fascinating ecosystem while keeping an eye out for wildlife including bald eagles, herons, turtles and alligators. You will see the houses of the local Cajuns who have made their homes here in the bayous, only accessible by boat. Return to New Orleans and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 4

New Orleans - Memphis

Travel north to the Birthplace of the Blues, Rock n Roll and Soul – Memphis. This evening you will experience Memphis cuisine with dinner at a local favourite barbeque restaurant.

Day 5

Memphis

Embark on a unique tour of the city of Memphis, when local musicians will board the coach and tell the story of Memphis’ musical heritage and history as you view the city’s many highlights. Then, visit Graceland, the palatial home of Elvis Presley. Elvis’ 14-acre estate contains his original business office, trophy building and the Meditation Garden, where Elvis and members of his family have been laid to rest. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy this city’s vast musical offerings on your own. Enjoy the live music that may fill the open air or spend the evening exploring Beale Street’s vibrant musical clubs.

Day 6

Travel to Nashville - the Country Music Capital of the World. This evening, take your seat at the renowned Grand Ole Opry. An entertainment complex that attracts music fans from all over the world, which began life as a building where a local radio broadcast show aired once a week in 1925. After the show, enjoy a backstage tour of the Opry and experience a behind-the-scenes look at the music. Then you will discover the history and learn about the operations of the show during a talk with the Grand Ole Opry staff.

Day 7

Nashville

Your day begins with a tour of the historic RCA Studio B, Nashville’s oldest remaining record studio where Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton and Charlie Pride recorded their classic hits. Learn the secrets of this famous studio, and soak up the atmosphere. Next you will visit the old Ryman Auditorium. Later in the day, a local guide will share the history and lore of Music City during a sightseeing tour. See the State Capitol, Music Row and the Parthenon – a full scale replica of the Athenian original.
