A day of leisure in Chicago. Once home to gangster Al Capone, Chicago still provides endless excitement. By day, the city’s high rising architecture provides a perfect backdrop for this financial center. Spend sometime shopping famous Michigan Avenue alsoknown as the Magnificent Mile.  At night, the city is transformed by blues clubs, lounges and excellent theaters.

Day 4 Chicago - Pullman Rail Journey

Enjoy a second day at leisure in the Windy City. Chicago is a city known for its art scene. Spend the day perusing the collections at the ArtInstitute, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Terra Museum of American Art and the many galleries along Michigan Avenue and the RiverNorth area are among the best in the country. Transfer independently to Chicago Union Stationfor your 8pm Pullman Rail Journey departure for New Orleans.

Dinner is served upon departure from Chicago.Enjoy the beautiful nighttime city skyline viewswhile crossing the Chicago River as you depart, relax as the scenery changes to suburban lightsand finally scattered farmland. Following dinner, feel free to retire to either the Scenic View domelounge or the Adirondack Club. The Adirondack Club remains open throughout the trip.  Snacks,beverages, beer, wine and spirits are included.While you relax in the lounge the Pullman Porterwill convert seating to beds in your room at thetime best suited to you.

Day 5 Pullman Rail Journey - Memphis - New Orleans

Early risers can stretch their legs during the ½ hour layover in Memphis.  The Lower Mississippi Delta region marks the first of the southern bayous on display.  Civil War era towns, rivers and mansions are on display this morning. Just after departure from Hammond, look for alligators from the train as we enter the world famous Louisiana Bayou.  Enjoy views of the Pass-Manchac waterway, connecting Lake Maurepas to Lake Pontchartrain. Arrive in New Orleans, a city immersed in Creole culture. The city today is a unique blend of Spanish, French, Caribbean, African and Anglo-Saxon influences. This is obvious in the food, architecture and of course, the music. Transfer independently to your hotel.

Day 6 New Orleans

A full day at leisure to take in the French flavor and grandeur of New Orleans. This is one of America’s most colorful cities. Riverboats, jazz, Creole cuisine and Mardi Gras have given “The Big Easy” its flamboyant reputation, and that rich heritage continues today. Stop for a cafe au lait and beignets at a sidewalk cafe. Music is always nearby, supplied by the tolling bells of St. Louis Cathedral, the clanging of streetcars and the rhythms of Dixieland Jazz. Take a lazy ride down the Mississippi on an authentic paddlewheel riverboat or discover the mystery of the swamps and bayous.

A full day at leisure in New Orleans.
