Situated on the Florida coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Clearwater Beach boasts around 2.5 miles of white, sandy beach, perfect for making the most of the gorgeous weather. Part of the city of Clearwater, this area sits on one of the county’s barrier islands and is linked to Sand Key. One of the best-loved beaches in Florida, the area boasts idyllic views and the chance to enjoy the attractions offered by the Beach Walk.
Things to do in Clearwater Beach
One of the area’s main attractions is the Beach Walk. Completed in 2008, this seafront promenade boasts an abundance of restaurants and shops towards the southern part of the stretch of coast. It also provides a wide and well-lit walkway for pedestrians, allowing them to enjoy the idyllic seafront views and the local eateries and retailers at the same time.
Head far enough along the Beach Walk and you’ll come to the famous Pier 60. Every evening, Pier 60 hosts a free family festival, offering craft stalls, street performers and music to celebrate the setting of the sun. There’s plenty more for the family too, including the chance to visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium to meet Winter, star of the 2011 film Dolphin Tale, and a whole host of other marine creatures.
One of the biggest events on the regional calendar is the annual Clearwater Jazz Holiday – an international celebration of Jazz music spread over four days and nights in October. A great excuse to listen to some fabulous music while viewing stunning sunsets. The beach is also home to a number of water activities, including swimming, sailing, parasailing, boat tours, and jet skiing, to name but a few!
With a number of bars, cafes and restaurants available, those with a love of all things food and drink-related will not be disappointed. From cocktail bars to Italian restaurants, there’s something to be found for everyone here.

When to go to Clearwater Beach
The most popular time to visit Clearwater Beach is between the beginning of January and the end of March, or from the beginning of September to the end of November. Although visiting the region at this time will be when it is at its busiest, it’s typically when the weather is its driest. If you prefer to holiday at quieter times, consider visiting during the summer months. Although you will certainly feel the heat and humidity at this time of year, planning to stay by the sea should help you cool down at least a little.
