Enjoy a charming lifestyle of water sports, museums and quiet beaches

Featured in classic films such as Some Like It Hot and having played host to many a celebrity, this charming town still has the same appeal it did all those years ago – it remains elegant, welcoming and uncrowded.

The classic portion of architecture is served up in the form of the Hotel del Coronado, a historic building once the temporary home of Hollywood’s elite and still as glamorous some 125 years after it was first built. But there are other attractions worth keeping time aside for. There’s the Museum of History and Art, the Coronado Ferry Landing and the quaint Village Theatre – all beautiful and a testament to this town’s history.

Coronado is beautiful throughout the year, and there are regular events to keep a look out for, from the Annual Flower Show to the less common but equally popular Surf Dog Competition. In December, there is also the Parade of Lights where more than 100 private boats decorated with festive lights journey along the waters of San Diego Bay.

Of course, there’s also the beach – a silvery stretch of sugary soft sands lapped by warm waters where young and old alike can enjoy themselves. Often hailed as one of the best beaches in the world, Coronado ticks the boxes for a great beach destination whether you’re planning a family trip or a laid-back couples retreat.

Top reasons to visit Coronado

  • The beach is gorgeous, uncrowded and a great place for kicking back and unwinding in style.
  • Watersports are popular in Coronado, so why not learn a new skill while you’re here and take up paddle boarding or surfing?
  • It’s a great family location, with plenty to keep adults and kids alike entertained – enjoy the sunshine, the welcoming ambience and the great activities.
  • The events which take place throughout the year means there’s always something fun to plan your trip around, regardless of when you’re hoping to travel
