Overview

Take the ultimate adventure through America’s Wild West with an escorted tour to the United States’ top national parks. From Old Faithful in Yellowstone to Mt. Rushmore and the Grand Canyon, you’ll be treated to a host of incredible sights and experiences along this 15-day tour.

Accompanied by an expert guide, you and your group will visit Scottsdale, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Jackson, Ucross, Custer State Park  before reaching Denver for your departing flight. A breath-taking journey with a range of amazing vistas and landscapes to explore, you’ll have the opportunity to dive in to both the surrounding scenery and heritage of each area for a brilliant trip that recaptures the history of the Wild West.

Day 1

Scottsdale

Begin your holiday with a VIP transfer to your UK airport then depart for Arizona. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred once more to your hotel in Scottsdale where you’ll have some time to check-in and explore the area for yourself. At 6pm, join your tour guide and group for a welcome reception and light meal.

Overnight: Scottsdale Marriott at McDowell Mountains (Dinner included)

Day 2

Scottsdale – Sedona and Grand Canyon

Journey north this morning to Sedona where you’ll have time to browse the quaint stores and galleries. Take a scenic drive through Oak Creek Canyon before making your way to Grand Canyon National Park where there will be the option to take a flightseeing tour by helicopter or plane over this incredible landscape. Spend overnight in the park and take the time to admire your surroundings, including sunset over the canyon walls. During your time here you’ll be treated to an informative presentation about the canyon from a local expert before enjoying a delicious dinner in the Thunderbird Room overlooking the South Rim.

Day 3

Grand Canyon – Monument Valley – Lake Powell

Move on to the historic Cameron Trading Post today to explore the Southwest American Indian arts and crafts, before continuing through the Painted Desert and the Navajo Indian Reservation. From here, join an excursion to Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park where you’ll embark on a guided tour. Stop at the Glen Canyon Dam to learn about the impact it’s had on the Colorado River before finishing the day at your lakefront resort at Lake Powell.

Day 4

Lake Powell

Today is a free day at Lake Powell for you to spend exploring at leisure. Relax and enjoy the facilities at the resort or take an optional float trip down the scenic Colorado River. Alternatively, take a cruise through Antelope Canyon.

Day 5

Lake Powell – Bryce Canyon National Park

Travel to Bryce Canyon National Park in Southern Utah this morning and enjoy a scenic walk along Sunset Point to see the uniquely-shaped monoliths known as hoodoos. In the evening, join your group and tour guide for an evening meal.

Day 6

Bryce Canyon – Zion National Park – Las Vegas

Today sees you witness this incredible colours and scenic landscapes of Zion National Park – board a private shuttle with live commentary upon arrival at the park to learn more about the highlights of this unique area. This afternoon, embark on a complete change of scenery as you arrive in Las Vegas. Spend the remainder of the day exploring this neon city.

Day 7

Las Vegas – Salt Lake City

Travel to Salt Lake City today, capital of Utah and headquarters of the Mormon faith. Your time here is at leisure upon arrival.

Day 8

Salt Lake City – Jackson

Join an orientation tour of Salt Lake City this morning, visiting the famous Temple Square, before hitting the road again across the Oregon Trail to Jackson where an arch of elk antlers adorns the central square. From here, continue on to your lakeside lodge which overlooks Jackson Lake and the peaks of Grand Teton National Park.

Day 9

Jackson – Yellowstone National Park

Stop to admire the views of Grand Teton at Jenny Lake before entering Yellowstone, one of America’s most famous natural attractions and the world’s first national park. This park is renowned for its unique geothermal activity, amazing wildlife and incredible landscapes – you’ll be joined by a local expert who will take you on a guided tour of the Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin.

Day 10

Yellowstone National Park

After enjoying a full breakfast, take a stroll among the geysers and watch them erupt from the valley floor. Visit Old Faithful and watch the wildlife, including elk and bears, roam in their habitat. From here, make your way to Lower Yellowstone Falls for an incredible view of these thunderous waters.

Day 11

Yellowstone National Park – Billings

Bid farewell to Yellowstone this morning and travel through the Shoshone Canyon and Absaroka Rocky Mountains to reach Cody, a Wild West town that’s rich in history. There will be a visit to the Buffalo Bill Centre of the West which honours one of the great western legends of America. Afterwards, make your way to Billings in Montana for your overnight stay and a choice of dining options from a selection of local restaurants.

Day 12

Billings – South Dakota

Visit the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument today to learn all about Custer’s Last Stand, Crazy Horse and the history of the Indian Wars. Cross the great plains to the Black Hills of South Dakota then visit Deadwood, joining Kevin Costner’s Original Deadwood Tour to explore this once lawless town. You’ll be joined by a local expert who will teach you about the days of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane who made the town famous in the 1870s during the time of the gold rush. You’ll also meet Chief Bald Eagle who will share a living narrative of the Great Sioux Nation before making your way to Custer State Park which is well known for its beautiful landscape and wildlife.

Day 13

Mt Rushmore and the Black Hills

Visit the Crazy Horse Memorial this morning then move on to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial which dominates the Black Hills. The rest of the day is at leisure, with an optional activity to take part in a jeep safari followed by an authentic chuckwagon cookout at a secluded canyon.

Day 14

South Dakota – Estes Park

Leave South Dakota and travel across the grasslands of Wyoming to reach the Colorado border; once over the border, you’ll journey to your hotel by the Rocky Mountain National Park which offers spectacular views in every direction and was the inspiration for the fictional ‘Overlook Hotel’ in Stephen King’s The Shining. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your group.

Day 15

Rocky Mountain National Park – Denver

Climb into the Rocky Mountain National Park this morning, across the Continental Divide and over the Trail Ridge Road to follow the beginnings of the Colorado River (weather permitting). Your tour comes to an end in Denver where you’ll be transferred to the airport for your departing flight.
