Western Panoramas is a 10-day tour of the American west that starts in glittering Las Vegas for a night staying on one of the mega-hotels on the famous Strip. You’ll move onto the eerie landscape of Death Valley and the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains to stop in the beautiful resort of Mammoth Lakes. Then it’s off to Yosemite National Park to marvel at the huge outcrops of El Capitan and Half Dome, before you arrive at the Pacific for a two-night stay in San Francisco, one of the USA’s most interesting cities. Head down the Californian coast, passing through attractive towns like Carmel and Monterey and stopping overnight at Pismo Beach. Keep onwards through the rolling wine country of the Santa Ynez Valley to reach Santa Barbara on the way to Los Angeles, your final destination, where you’ll get to tour Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Sunset Strip.

Day 1

Fly from the UK - Los Angeles
On arrival in Los Angeles transfer to your hotel. Evening at leisure.

Day 2

Los Angeles - Las Vegas.
Coach tour commences. Meet your escort and depart at 8am for Las Vegas, the glittering entertainment capital of the world, for non-stop fun and gambling.

Day 3

Las Vegas - Death Valley - Mammoth Lakes.
Having enjoyed the fast pace of glamorous Las Vegas, it will be s a sharp contrast this afternoon to enter the quiet and extreme environment of Death Valley. Situated in between some high and distant mountain ranges, this is by far the hottest spot on your journey! Stop at Zabriskie Point and Furnace Creek Ranch before continuing across the valley and ascending the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the alpine resort town of Mammoth Lakes.
Mammoth Mountain was formed over 200,000 years ago as a series of violent volcanic eruptions. The area gained prominence as a gold mining town in the 19th century, but today it’s the skiing terrain and beautiful mountain vistas that attracts visitors from near and far.

Day 4

Mammoth Lakes – Yosemite National Park.
A short drive brings you over the Tioga Pass high in the Sierras into the scenic wonderland of Yosemite National Park. The park is home to a truly spectacular collection of waterfalls. Within the park, you will see the majestic glacial-shaped granite formations of Half Dome and El Capitan, which rise from the valley floor.

Day 5

Yosemite – San Francisco.
Depart early this morning, crossing the Oakland Bay Bridge to arrive in San Francisco, one of the most beloved cities in America. Commence a sightseeing tour before an afternoon at leisure. This evening you have the opportunity to take a memorable City by Night Tour (optional).

Day 6

San Francisco
The whole day at leisure in San Francisco. Standing on a hilltop, watching the fog swirl in through the Golden Gate, it is easy to understand why so many consider San Francisco the most beautiful city in America. Your tour escort will be on hand to assist with making your plans for the day; perhaps a cable car ride to Fisherman’s Wharf, or a stroll and some shopping around Union Square. You also have the option to take a day tour to Napa Valley, world-renowned for its many wineries and beautiful scenery.

Day 7

San Francisco – Monterey/Carmel – Pismo Beach
Depart San Francisco this morning for the drive to the Monterey Peninsula, known for its enclave of magnificent homes and lovely beaches, as well as picturesque Carmel-by-the-Sea. In Monterey visit Fisherman’s Wharf and famous Cannery Row of John Steinbeck fame. Then tour charming Carmel-by-the-Sea, noted for its quaint houses, upscale art galleries and unique stores. In the afternoon continue to drive south through Paso Robles, home of the cowboys and wineries, and San Luis Obispo .

Day 8

Pismo Beach/Solvang – Santa Barbara – Los Angeles.
Journey south through the Santa Ynez Valley into Santa Barbara, where palm-lined walkways (‘paseos’) border white sandy beaches, prompting many to call it the ’American Riviera’. Stop for lunch here, and enjoy the Spanish heritage and architecture, most notably its venerated mission. Upon arrival in Los Angeles this afternoon, you will enjoy a sightseeing tour through the ’City of Angels’ including Hollywood, Sunset Strip and parts of Beverly Hills, before reaching your hotel where your tour ends. Overnight at Radisson Hotel Culver City.

Day 9

Independant transfer back to the airport for your return flight.

Day 10

Arrival back to the UK.
