Self-Drive The Oregon and California Connection

Day 1

Arrival into Portland, pick up the rental vehicle and travel to downtown for the first night.

Day 2

This morning you will have time to look around the ‘City of Roses’ and visit some of the Portland area highlights. Then on over the coastal range to the Pacific Ocean where you will overnight in the resort community of Seaside.

Day 3

A full day to wander along one of the most scenic drives in the USA – US Highway 101 as you travel down the Oregon rugged coast line. You will find a lot of State Park areas and lighthouses to keep you busy along this route. You will also find one of the west top aquariums in the town of Newport.

Day 4

You will again travel down the coast for a short distance before heading back into the central valley wine country. Then into the rugged Cascade Mountains along the Scenic Byway to the north entrance of the Crater Lake National Park. You will drive around the lake and take lots of scenic photos before an overnight in the park.

Day 5

Today you will depart the south entrance of the Crater Lake National Park and continue through the wildlife sanctuary to Klamath Falls. Then return east to the Pacific Ocean over Grants Pass. Again you will follow US-101 South along the northern CA coast and through the Redwood National Park regions to overnight in Eureka.

Day 6

Today you have an option to continue to follow US-101 south through the wine country of California, Napa and Sonoma Valley, to the ‘City by the Bay’, San Francisco. Or you may wish to
continue to follow the coast south and take US-1. Both routes will bring you to the famed Golden Gate Bridge, your entry point into San Francisco
