Starting with two nights in historic Boston, you’ll drive up the New England shoreline by deluxe motorcoach, arriving in mid-coast Maine for a night. Then it’s onto the scenic Kancamagus Highway to cut inland to New Hampshire’s White Mountains, down through the Lakes Region and to the Green Mountains and rural Vermont. Continue onto Shaker country and Massachusetts’ Berkshire Hills, and you’ll be treated to beautiful woodland Fall colours all along the way. Drive back to the coast to Newport Rhode Island before stopping in Cape Cod, with its quaint fishing villages, long beaches and sand dunes. You’ll have a chance to sail across to Martha’s Vineyard, one of the region’s most famous and fashionable resorts, and then conclude the tour back in Boston.

To Mid Coast Maine
107 miles
This morning, depart at 09:00 to travel along the North Shore of Massachusetts and the southern coast of Maine. Further up the coast is the charming fishing port of Gloucester and the famous Fishermen’s Memorial statue commemorating “... they that go down in ships.” The artist colonies of Rockport, Massachusetts and Kennebunkport, Maine, bustle in the summer and provide the quiet inspiration of the sea all year long.

1 night Connecticut River Valley/Sturbridge Host Hotel
To Newport and
Cape Cod 180 miles
Today we first travel to America’s smallest state, Rhode Island. Visit Newport, the sailing capital of New England. Here, at the turn of the last century, America’s most wealthy families lived in such opulence that they referred to their palatial seasonal homes as “cottages.” Travel along the beautiful Ten Mile Drive, lined with extravagant stately mansions. You will tour one of these “summer cottages”. Then it is on to Cape Cod. Awake to the fresh sea air in this world renowned resort. Today, choose an unescorted round trip ferry ride to the island of Martha’s Vineyard, with an included sightseeing tour.
This is New England’s largest, and perhaps most famous island.

You may decide to join us on a tour of Cape Cod with a whale watch cruise (weather permitting).
